The Dems Float in Boone, a couple of years ago

For the past 13 years, the Watauga County Democratic Party has entered a large patriotic float in the Boone July 4th Parade. For the past three years, the float has featured our new and world-famous Kazoo Band, led by our Second Vice Chair Marjory Holder.

This year’s parade is Wednesday, July 4, beginning at Horn-in-the-West parking lot in Boone. The float will be decorated starting at 8:30 a.m. in the parking lot. All riders need to be on-board by 10:30 a.m. The parade steps off at 11 a.m., and the float will return to the Horn-in-the-West staging area after the parade.

The Kazoo Band will be entertaining the crowds with patriotic and traditional Americana tunes. All you have to do to play a kazoo is hum!

Please wear your Watauga County Democratic Party T-shirt (if you have one) or other patriotic colors. It’s wise to bring sun screen and to wear a hat. We’ll have bottled water on the float.
